Storms find the weak points on a roof. These two call-outs came in after bad weather: one for ridge tiles that had moved, and one for an unused chimney letting water run down the inside walls.
Ridge tiles moved in a storm
Two ridge tiles had moved in a storm the week before. The homeowner called in the morning, was sent a price, and the tiles were back in place by 2pm.
Loose ridge tiles are worth fixing quickly. Once one moves, wind can get under the next, and a falling ridge tile is heavy enough to cause real damage below.
An unused chimney letting water in
After a storm, water was running down the inside walls of another house. The cause was an unused chimney in poor repair. Rather than rebuild a stack nobody used, it was taken down and the roof was sealed over.
Taking down an unused chimney is often cheaper than repairing it properly, and it removes a common leak point for good.

“Contacted [them] this morning to put back two ridge tiles that had moved in last week's storm. They replied with a cost and had completed the job by 2pm, I didn't expect that.”
