Roof repairs
Slipped slates, cracked tiles, leaks and storm damage put right, usually in a single visit.
The problem
A roof rarely fails all at once. It starts with one slate on the lawn, a damp patch on a bedroom ceiling, or a drip in the loft after heavy rain off the Bristol Channel. Left alone, water tracks along timbers and the repair bill grows.
Most repairs we are called out for in Barry are small jobs that became urgent. A single slipped slate above a valley can let in more water than a missing ridge tile, because it funnels rain straight onto the felt.
We work on all the roof types common around the town: natural and fibre-cement slate on the older terraces near the town centre, concrete interlocking tiles on the post-war estates, and clay pantiles on some of the properties towards the seafront.
If the roof is not safe to walk or the damage is widespread, we will say so and talk you through a re-roof rather than patch something that will fail again next winter.
What the job involves
- Roof inspection from a ladder and, where needed, from inside the loft
- Photos of the problem so you can see what we have seen
- Fixed written price before any work starts
- Replace broken or slipped slates and tiles with a colour match
- Renew lead flashing, mortar bedding and pointing where it has failed
- Clear the guttering we have disturbed and check the valleys
